A couple of time and format changes: Robert Houde's tasting tomorrow begins at 5 and ends at 7 p.m. The usual Thursday night format: open house, no fee.

He'll be pouring the super rare 2007 single vineyard Terre Nere wines, which are made by Marco de Grazia from pre-phylloxera Nerello vines at 3,000+ feet elevation on the slopes of Mt. Etna. The 2006's were all 92 - 93 point Parker/Galloni wines. Very Barolo/Burgundy-esque.

Come anytime between 5 to 7. Earlier is better as he only has one bottle of each wine to sample and orders will be filled on a first come first served basis for these highly allocated gems. More info here: http://www.thebottleshop.net/news.php?newsid=86

Most importantly, we're getting the band back together: bring a mature bottle from your cellar that you'd like to share with the group afterwards. Not sure if the group has picked a theme. Barolo or Burgundy would be appropriate seeing as the Terre Nere wines are often compared to Nebbiolo and Burgundy. See below for more info.

In the words of the immortal Elwood Blues (or was it Jake?), "we're getting the band back together." It has been far too long since our last Bottle Shop tasting, so Joe and I picked a date tonight. Thursday, October 29th, Joe is hosting a Robert Hood tasting from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. They plan to pour some of Marco de Grazia's UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE WINES from Sicily (no fee) and then some of us plan to open some Italian wines (preferably Barolos, but we could still change the theme if people have strong feelings). Please let me know if you can attend. That night, we will pick the theme and date for the next night (we had considered Spring Mountain cabs, Willamette Pinot Noirs or Aussie Shiraz and a few other ideas). Thanks-- Mike
